That’s the cabins’ house work horse, that’s how all the straw bales arrived to build the strawbale house and countless loads of firewood. Not to mention transportation for half of the Navajo nation.

Love the perspective in this photo!

  3. Mom Says:

See the U.S.A. in your Chevrolet! 🙂

  4. Terri Says:

Really cool picture! Thanks for sharing 🙂

  5. blythewhite Says:

you could totally frame this. i never thought i’d like a truck so much!

  6. Granny Says:

Grandad also reminded me that all the logs that built the hogan were also hauled in that dear old truck as well as all the black top and gravel that we paved the road from the gate to the cabin with. We spent many evenings stealing black top that had been stripped from the highway and piled by the road. We loaded it in that wonderful old truck and away we went!!

  7. Mom Says:

You could sell the picture to Chevrolet to use as an ad.

  8. Emily Straw Says:

Love that picture! Also, I wanted to tell you guys about a program called Baby Smash that you can download from babysmash.com. It protects your computer so little ones can’t mess up your stuff and whenver they hit a key or use the mouse it shows letters and shapes and all kinds of stuff 🙂 Ethan loves it! Love you guys and miss you!

  9. Aunty Penn Says:

I think the statute of limitations may have run out on that stolen black top, but I called the rez police, just in case….

What a picture, Liesl. Blindsided, again. Choke. Sniff. Sigh.

  10. Granny Says:

Thanks alot, Aunty Penn, you better get yourself down here and take care of YOUR dog while we serve time in the Rez hoosegow!! May be a couple years, you know. Hey, Grandad, Penn and George are coming for a visit!!

  11. grandad Says:

we didnt really steal the stuff we just borrowed it and the rains took most of it away from us and put it in Daisy Cowboys land.
Guess that will teach us not to borrow without permission.

  12. Aunty Penn Says:

Granny: I almost split a gut reading your post! Don’t tell Grandad I said ‘gut’.

Grandad: Is Daisy Cowboy in jail, you lowdown baby tattle? Borrowed, forsooth. It probably taught you not to mess with NM clay roads–they always win. Right, Liesl?

  13. Katie Says:

I’ll chime in! Pawel and I spent many a morning in spring sliding all over the muddy cabin road (yes, I can vouch that the blacktop is gone) trying to get out to go to work in the morning. Good ol’ truck. I was at work right on time everyday. Granted, we left way ahead of time.
